Tribute to the National & International Heroes of Peshawar
Nations always recognise and remember their heroes. Recognition of the talent is among the fundamental duties of the government; therefore, City District Government Peshawar has once again organised Fakhar-e-Peshawar Award on 2nd May 2019 at Nishtar Hall Peshawar to recognise the top achievers in numerous domains. The award was first introduced by the CDGP in the year 2017 due to the keen interest of the honourable Muhammad Asim Khan – Mayor, CDGP in recognition of the outstanding work done by Peshawaris. The initiative has been once again endorsed by opinion makers including the media, civil society, relevant government institutions, experts, and general public. District Government intends to organise the event annually.
The main content of the event was displaying the special video documentaries of the laureates, awards distribution ceremony, cultural performance, red carpet reception and interview of the laureates and the visitors. After a thorough process of nominations filing and short-listing, thirty people from multiple domains have been selected by a free and fair committee in the best interest of the district. The incorporated domains are volunteerism, education, women empowerment, literature, performing art, music, fine arts, sports, health, youth affairs, history & culture, information technology, agriculture, and unique talent.
The honourable laureates of the Fakhar-e-Peshawar 2019 are Adeel Rauf, Imran Khan, Yaseen Khan, Altaf Ur Rehman, M Kabir Khan, Sofia Javed, Riaz Kail, Mian Syed Ahmad Shah, Wajahatullah Wasti, Saleem Awan, Hamdullah Jan Bismil, Zaitoon Bano, Nazeer Ahmad Bhatti, Dr. Ali Jan, Gulab Khel, Khumariyaan the Band, Mahjabeen Qazalbash, Abdul Muqsit, Sabih Ahmad, Al-Khidmat Foundation, Dr. Sania Nishter, Ishrat Abbas, Zulfiqar Quraishi, Zeeshan Pervez, Samina Sahar, Umar Gul, Najee khan, Dr Sajid Ali, Haleem Shirazi, and Qazi Tufail. The presence of honourable Ayub Khosa, Rasheed Naz, Minister Atif Khan, and other dignitaries made the event more interactive and interesting.
